A Different View of the Season

I like the way fall changes with the distance. From above, the trees make a patchwork around water and exposed rock. On the ground, one golden tree, a handful of red leaves, or the ribs of a pumpkin can hold the whole season.
The colors have their own timing. As chlorophyll breaks down, yellows and oranges become visible, while red pigments add another part of the palette. I have brought these six photographs together for that change in scale, from the forest canopy to the details close at hand.
These photographs were made in 2022, 2024 and 2025. Capture metadata identifies DJI FC3170 and FC9287 cameras for the aerial views and an Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max for the ground-level images. Individual captions retain each photograph's capture year and exposure details.
